The Scent of Impending Victory...

Waseca IV Preview - Some athlete's claim that victory has a "scent,"and that they can detect it prior to an event they are destined to win.

According to a guy who calls himself a Quantum Smellocologist, Victory Aroma is not only delectable by those who will be overall champions. It is also perceptible to those who will win their AGs, or "win" a PR, or win a personal battle with a particular adversary, or whatever defines winning for them.

Cool.

Of course, some skeptics decry the veracity of the VST (Victory Scent Theory), claiming that such a phenomenon simply does not exist. Others believe that impending victory has a feel, not a scent, and that said feeling is delectable in either...

mariePAUL BUNYAN TRIATHLON - Minnesotan Ryan Welle and Canadian Lori Green were their gender's winners at last weekend's 4th annual Paul Bunyan Long Course Triathlon. LC RESULTS It's companion sprint, which celebrated it's 5th anniversary, was won by David Gurney and Marie Moeckel (photo), a dentist in Moorhead who loves Meatloaf, the singer, not the hamburger thing, and "would do anything for love, but I won't do that." Of course, she has nice teeth and flosses regularly. SPRINT RESULTS

Stuff About the Women of the Chisago Half...

cindyCHISAGO HALF VII - Cindy Blackstock (photo) had the biggest smile of all the Elite wavers on Sunday, her 50-60 teeth gleaming like polished Chicklets in the early post-dawn light.

She was smiling because she was surrounded by 1500 peers, people she loves, and because she was anxious to get her quest for a half IM personal best underway. And because she just plain likes to smile, being as she is, an intrinsically happy person and all.

Goshdarnit! This racing experience was unkind to Cindy. She told us about it in an email and though we could feel her disappointment and sadness, we also knew that she was smiling as she typed....
