Liberty Olympic Race Report - So I have been procrastinating on writing this race report, I guess because a planned DNF is kind of anti-climactic. I have still not been running as I continue to recover from what has been going on with my leg, so the plan for Liberty was to race the swim and bike, take the opportunity for some transition practice, and have a solid brick training effort. Part of my reasoning in choosing this race when I was figuring out my race calendar was to get a solid earlier season Olympic distance race under my belt before the NYC Tri on July 24th. I’ve never raced Liberty before, but knew it was a long-time favorite local race so I was looking forward to what it had to offer....

Ironman 70.3 Barcelona Race Report - It’s finally time for a very belated race report.  Last fall I knew I was going to be headed to Israel for memorial week for a wedding.  Knowing it would be tough to train while there I wanted to make this a mid-season mini break.  Looking over my race options I found Barcelona 70.3, Chattanooga 70.3 and Rev 3 Knoxville.  If I did a 70.3 a low training week/time off would make the most sense.  After checking out the course for Barcelona I couldn’t stop thinking about doing that race.  A rough swim in the Mediterranean Sea, a hard bike with climbs into the mountains and a flat run along the beach, a perfect course for me!  I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it with the extra travel hassle, jet lag and having to lug a bike around Israel.   When I found a flight that stopped in Barcelona for less than 200$ more than I was going to pay to get to Israel, I was sold, this was going to be epic....

ROOKIE EXPERIENCE RACE REPORT - Dawn arrived in Rochester on Sunday with the faint but unmistakable sound of grossly under inflated knobby tires rolling into Foster Arends park. There was a new nervous excitement in the air as 30 first-time triathletes arrived, most of them right on the 6:30am suggested arrival time. Like the rest of us they will learn to arrive before transition opens at 5:30am and spend two hours lining up shoes, squeezing tires, catching up with friends and discovering that it really is possible to have a productive porta-pottie visit nine times in less than two hours.

Rochesterfest sprint was the first Rookie Tri Experience offered by Final Stretch. It is an attempt to attract new athletes to the sport and offer a welcoming start to what is probably a life-changing day for...
