Our research unearthed a 2011 win for her at Patriots Sprint, a 3rd at Azalea and 4ths at White Lake Half, Triangle Bill, who's Irish and even owns a few Chieftains records, and Babs, whose ancestry is from Sweden and who enjoyed "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" more than her husband did, plan to have Shepherd's Pie (with lamb and fresh sage) and Guinness on St. Patrick's Day. Dessert, however, will include Swedish Waffle Cookies with Lingonberry Jam and Akvavit. Also racing on the 25th at Oak Mountain State Park (south of Birmingham) will be veteran pro David Thompson. With three wins (2007, 2008, 2009), DKT has won this event more than any other male. (Desiree Ficker is also a three-time champion.)

The next stop on Shaughnessy's 2012 race schedule is the Collegiate National Championship in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 21.
* PRO DEBUTS - Amateur tri stars Dan Hedgecock and Claire Bootsma, who hang out together a lot, have recently obtained pro duathlete licenses and plan to make their pro debuts on March 25 at Powerman Alabama / USAT Elite Du Nationals. MTN will discuss the race and assess Dan's and Claire's chances next week.
