Most Improved Nominees: Women

Minnesota Multisport Awards - The official men's Most Improved nominees were posted last Friday. Here now are that category's nominated women:

RUTH BRENNAN MORREY, 37, Rochester - 2011 Team MN Rank: 5th

Improving on a 5th place ranking is tough, but RBM will certainly do that. In 2012, Ruther emerged as, arguably, America's best amateur 70.3 racer AND our nation's #1 female duathlete, pro or amateur.

SUZIE FOX, 28, Chaska - 2011 Team MN Rank: 9th

Suzie was brilliant in 2012, racking up six of her 11 career multisport victories. She also conquered long distances, heretofore a buggaboo, by convincingly winning Pigman and placing 6th in her Ironman debut (10:38:09) at IMOO....

ELAINE NELSON, 33, Duluth - 2011 Approximate Rank: 16th-20th

A Rookie of the Year nominee in 2011, Nelson won four of the five multis she entered in 2012. In her non-winning effort she finished a remarkable 8th overall at USAT AG Nationals.

CHRISTINA ROBERTS, 26, St. Paul - Approximate 2011 Rank: 16th - 20th

Roberts loves Olympic distance racing, as her 2012 results attest. She won two of the four international length events she entered, and placed 2nd in one other. She is also a totally gnarly wakesurfer (photo R).

Missing a nomination by a single vote was Stephanie Solfelt, who flirted with a Team MN berth (12th) in 2011 and could earn an even higher ranking this year.
