2016 Nominees: Junior of the Year...

2016 MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Today we introduce the official nominees for JUNIOR OF THE YEAR. Narrowing the list down to four candidates wasn't easy, but after scrutinizing the resumes and eliminating those who had insufficient volume (DL performances were not evaluated) or consistency, most of the MMA Selectors agreed on these choices (in alpha order):

- 4th overall / 1st Junior @ RochesterFest Sprint

- 6th overall / 2nd Junior @ Minneapolis Sprint

- 7th overall / 1st Junior @ Toughman Sprint

- 8th overall / 1st Junior @ New Bri

15th overall / 1st Junior @ Liberty Olympic

- ALLISON CRUM, 19, Deerwood (1st Nomination)

2016 Highlights:

- 1st overall @ Fruit at the Finish Tri

- 2nd overall / 1st Junior @ Green Lake Sprint - Jr. CR

- 9th overall / 1st Junior @ Brewhouse Olympic - Jr. CR

- 7th overall / 3rd Junior @ Heart of the Lakes Sprint

- LAUREN STEINKE, 16, St. Cloud (2nd Nomination - photo R)

2016 Highlights:

- 1st overall @ Lakes Country

- 3rd overall / 1st Junior @ Graniteman-Big Lake Sprint

- 9th / 1st Junior @ Lake Waconia - Jr. CR

- KRISTINA SWENSON, 19, Rogers (1st Nomination)

2016 Highlights:

- 1st overall @ Heart of the Lakes Sprint

- 7th overall / 1st Junior @ Lake Minnetonka - Jr. CR

- 11th overall / 1st Collegiate / 1st  Junior @ Maple Grove Olympic

Other junior athletes receiving serious consideration include (in alpha order): ELIZABETH AXBERG, HANNAH BETTANDORF, ELI BROMAN, BELLA BUENTING, CARTER DEICHMAN, KAITLYN GARRISON, MACY IYER, NICK KLONNE, TAYLOR LUNDQUIST, JOSH NORDSTROM, SOPHIE RABINO, PARKER ROEHL, MARTHA STELTER, MAISY WAECH, RAELEY WALZ, ALY WELCH, GARRETT WELSCH, ARIANA WERTZ.

MMA winners will be named and awards presented at the 18th annual MMA Party at Gear West Bike & Triathlon in Long Lake on November 12.
