2016 MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Today we reveal the official nominees for Female TRIATHLETE OF THE YEAR. They are:
HANNA GRINAKER (28, St. Paul) - This sensational rookie triathlete won four of the eight tris she entered, two in course record time. She excelled at sprint, Olympic and half IM and her CR at Lake Waconia is nominated for Performance of the Year....

MINNESOTA MULTISPORT AWARDS - Here are the officlal nominees for Male Performance of the Year:
SEAN COOLEY - Course record victory at Superior Man Half IM - 4:04:21 (Fastest 70.3 time by a MInnesota man in 2016)
SEAN COOLEY (photo) - Course record victory at Lake Waconia Triathlon. Sean beat a very deep field. His margin of victory was 2:06!
WADE CRUSER - Victory at Oakdale Duathlon. His time--1:02:07--was extraordinary given the inclement weather. His margin of victory was 5:58!
MATTHEW PAYNE - Course record (1:54:15) at Buffalo Olympic. Matt outraced one of the deepest field of the year. His victory margin was 2:46.
As always, the POY category was extremely difficult to determine and not all Committee members agreed with the final picks. Here are the other performances that were given serious consideration:

Sprint for success
I can't tell you how many times I have heard triathletes say “oh, it’s just a sprint”. The background of this statement is the assumption that the race is so short that it A. Does not need to be trained for, B. Doesn’t really count, or C. Is somehow less of an accomplishment than another event.
I would like to start by getting one thing straight, just because you complete an event that is longer, does not mean you are a better triathlete than someone who completes a shorter event. For...
