More Cool Weekend Stuff...UPDATED...

pamOTTAWA DUATHLON WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - MTN congratulates all of the Minnesota participants who competed at Du Worlds in Ontario on Saturday. Three of our state's run-bike-runners medaled! They are Pam Stevens (2nd 60-64M - photo), Mike Buenting (3rd 35-39M) and Paige Danielson (1st 16-19W Sprint Race). RESULTS

10th annual GREEN LAKE OLYMPIC & SPRINT TRIATHLONS - Sarah Berger posted her first career multisport win on Sunday. Sharing the Olympic race's Top Step with her was John Heinlein. The sprint race was won by rookie star Casey Miller, who also was victorious at the Walker Tri, and South Dakota's Teresa Van Hyfte, who has great hair and also won this race in 2012. The weather was perfect for racing and the pulled pork was yummy.

11th annual NORTHWOODS TRIATHLON - Brooks Grossinger, winner of four of the five multis he's raced in thus far in 2013, picked up his 9th Northwoods victory on Saturday, blasting his course record in the process. The women's course record also fell courtesy of 14-year-old Youth Elite phenom Katie Patrick of South Dakota, whose remarkable 1:05:24 was a handful of seconds faster than Michelle Andres' 2008 CR. Patrick's 17-year-old brother Ryan placed 2nd overall in the men's race and their mom, Susie, took 9th on the women's contest. RESULTS

REV 3 WISCONSIN DELLS OLYMPIC - Having his most successful season ever, St. Paul's Thaddeus Ingersoll placed 2nd overall among amateur men here on Sunday. In the pro race, David Thompson took 7th and Dan Hedgecock finished in 12th place. Also, Dan Arlandson finished 4th overall and Beth Guck won her AG (55-59W) in the Rev 3 Half IM.

5th annual WINGMAN TRIATHLON - Western Wisconsinonianites Jim Felling (River Falls) and Megan Westhoff (Hudson) led the way in Red Wing on Sunday. RESULTS

USAT SPRINT NATIONALS - Kevin O'Connor followed up his silver medal effort at Saturday's Olympic Nationals with another silver medal effort at Sunday's Sprint Nationals, where he placed an impressive 7th overall. The 2011 Minnesota Master of the Year appears to be the frontrunner for that award this season. In eight starts he has five outright wins, a fourth and two silver medal efforts in National Championship competition.
