Minnesotans Rock at Du Nats...and Other Stuff...Updated...

nats-logo.gif- USAT DUATHLON NATIONALS (Standard Distance) - Columbia Heights' Matthew Payne and McKenzie, Tennessee's Kirsten Sass were crowned amateur National Duathlon champions this morning. Sass' win was aided by Dani Fischer's two minute penalty. Four Minnesota men--Payne, Bennett Isabella (5th), Kevin O'Connor (6th) and Andy Wiberg (10th) --cracked the overall Top 10. Three Minnesota women--Diane Hankee (4th), Jenn Scudiero (7th) and Greta Danielson (10th)--did likewise.

11th CHASKA TRIATHLON - Former collegiate runner Ryan Bailey (Photo L) won his mano-a-mano duel with two-time Chaska winner Kyle Serreyn this morning. Sarah Mercer won the women's race. More words and photos on Tuesday. RESULTS

 

OUTLAND CHALLENGE - En route to tomorrow's Kansas 5150, David Thompson picked up his 90th career victory at Lake Cochrane, South Dakota.  His female counterpart was fellow St. Paulian Bridget McCoy, who placed 5th overall. RESULTS

3rd Annual TRI FOR A CAUSE - Casey Miller keeps winning. On the heels of victories at Average Jo and Graniteman - Clearwater, Casey Miller won TFC by almost a two minute margin. Michelle Andres won the women's title, placing 4th overall. RESULTS

Really cool lady from downtown Chi-Town. She drove to Austin, Minnesota just for the Spamtown Tri.
Why? Because she goes somewhere every weekend to race, likes the smaller towns and race smaller
venues because she has all the big city stuff she needs where she lives. She saw this race on
Trifind.com and decided to make the trip. She's 56 and has been racing for 30 years.

#2 - despite some technical glitches and the fact that the event was understaffed, I liked the race;
fun run and bike courses...
