Minnesota Multisport Awards - To be eligible for the Long Distance Athlete of the Year, and athlete needs to have turned in at least two outstanding long distance efforts, i.e. half IM-range or longer, during the season. Here are the four official nominees for 2014 LDAOY:...

SEAN COOLEY, 28, Grand Forks, ND -  LD Highlights:

1st @ Superior Man 69.1 - 4:02:06

4th overall / 2nd amateur @ Chisago - 4:09:05

SUZIE FOX, 31, Chaska - LD Highlights:

1st @ Superior Man 69.1

3rd amateur @ Ironman Wisconsin

6th amateur @ Ironman Los Cabos

KORTNEY HAAG, 35, Maple Grove - LD Highlights:

1st @ Rev 3 Wisconsin Dells (margin - 10:28)

1st amateur / 2nd overall @ Chisago - 4:34:23

1st amateur / 2nd overall @ Pigman Half - 4:42:14

MATTHEW PAYNE, 36, Columbia Heights (photo L) - LD Highlights:

1st @ Liberty Half IM - 4:02:46 - CR

1st @ Leadman Epic 125 - Bend - 4:07:57 - Race Record

1st amateur / 3rd overall @ Pigman Half IM

Also receiving serious consideration was DAN ARLANDSON (38, Burnsville), who could be added to the list of nominees if he has a strong performance at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships this weekend, and NICOLE HEININGER (25, White Bear Lake). Dan's current LD highlights include a 2nd at Liberty (4:10:18), a 4th (amateur) at Ironman Lake Placid. Nicole's LD resume features a win at Liberty Half and a 4th at Chisago (4:46:34 - PR).
