Two Win Weekend For O'Connor....

PIGMAN SPRINT - David Thompson is closing in on career victory number-100, a milestone he could, health permitting, reach before the 2015 season is over. On Sunday, he picked up victory number-94 at Pigman Sprint....

His time was impressive, a 1:01:39, only 36 seconds off the CR he set here in 2012, and his margin of victory over runner-up Andrew Nielsen, a young pro from Madison, Wisconsin, was 30 seconds. DKT had been nursing injuries in the off-season. This was his first race of the season.

Placing 3rd overall was the amateur winner, Kevin O'Connor, who pulled off an awesome double last weekend. On Saturday, he won Sprint Duathlon Nationals in St. Paul. Since the millennial change, KO has been amateur champion at Little Pig five times. In 2001, he was the overall champion. He had also won this event several times in the 90s. We suspect that he has a double-figure victory total here.

On paper, the women's podium appeared obvious. Pros Heather Lendway and Jackie Hering would duke it out for the Top spot, and  Sarah Alexander would take third and claim the amateur title. Well, that's the way it happened, with Hering, nee Arendt, earning the equivalent of the Gold Medal. For rookie pro Lendway, it was her 3rd podium finish in as many (non-drafting) starts this season.

St. Paul's Bridget McCoy rocked a 4th place / 2nd amateur finish, a great effort amid stellar competition. RESULTS
