Bridget is Very, Very Happy......

14th MINNEAPOLIS TRI - The Women - At Lake Waconia, Bridget McCoy pushed Suzie Fox to a course record, lowering a mark that had stood since 2007. It could be argued that, at LWT, Suzie pulled Bridget to her (Bridget's) finest multisport effort to date. That's saying a lot considering that McCoy's resume featured five wins....

Last Saturday, Bridget trumped everything she had done before with a stunning and convincing win at the Life Time - Minneapolis Triathlon. She did it with solid splits in all three disciplines, in other words, she stayed strong throughout and made no mistakes along the way.

Bridget was one of at least eight women who could have won on Saturday (How exciting is that!), and though those women are used to winning races, none of them had won an event of this magnitude. Someone was going to emerge as the weekend's superstar, and that person's....

competitive life was going to change in a big way.  And if 2015 Team Minnesota were decided today, Bridget, who snuck onto Team Minnesota in 2014 (10th), would likely find herself in the Top 3. Her current resume for the season includes a win and three 2nds.

Here's how the Top 10 fared:

bridget-winLTF.gif1. BRIDGET McCOY (photo L) - Breakout win - 2:12:40

2. CHRISTINA ROBERTS (photo L) - 2:14:18 - The fact that she was outbiked by 11 other women and still made the podium impresses our socks off. Lots of saddle time  is the Rx for Christina.

3. HEINEY - - 2:15:19 - Successful LTF-Mpls debut for Nicole. We heard that she puked on the run. It happens.

4. LISA LENDWAY - 2:16:04 - Great effort considering her recent knee problem. Holding a sub-7-minute pace on the run got our attention. She's definitely on the comeback trail.

5. GABY BUNTEN - 2:16:15 - Not her best day. She called it a "learning experience." Watch out for Gaby the next time she races.

6. KELLY TROM - 2:17:30 - The 2014 Rookie of the Year runner-up was four minutes faster than last year.

7. ELAINE NELSON - 2:19:05 - Twenty-fifth woman out of the water, eight minutes behind the leader (Bunten), was too much to overcome. Still, she did manage to overtake 18 of those women during the bike and run portions. Glass half full.

8. DIANE HANKEE - 2:20:00 - It doesn't appear that Diane has recovered from injuries that have plagued her since May.

9. TERRY CASEY - 2:20:09 - Formerly Terry Moore, she's been one of New Mexico's premier multisportswomen for almost two decades.

10. LINDSEY MARSHALL - 2:20:24 - We haven't seen much of Lindsey in the last two years. The last time she raced here, she placed 15th.
