Heather's Mugs...

16th Annual SQUARE LAKE (Short Course) - Studying this year's results on paper told us that something didn't add up. DAVID THOMPSON's and HEATHER' LENDWAY's bike splits and overall margins of victory did not make sense. Until HL posted this on her Facebook page:  ...

"The tradition continues! 4th year at my favorite tri... David and I did a few extra miles just for fun but still took the W's -  Thanks Randy!!"

See, that's the problem with going off the front, a curse and a luxury only a select few have exerienced. You've got no one to follow and sometime wrong turns get taken and miles pass before the error is discovered.

Still, DKT and Heather didn't complain. For David, who adopted the tri lifestyle in 2000, it was his 100th career multisport win. That's a big deal. For Heather, Rookie of the Year in 2012, it was win number-26.

The amateur champs--DKT and HL--are pros--were two-time Minnesota Triathlete of the Year nominee BROOKS GROSSINGER, who on paper was only six seconds behind Thompson, and DIANE HANKEE, who has won her last three races.

Taking the final podium spots were THOMAS ANDERSON III, whose 2015 resume features one win (Big Lake Sprint) and four other podium finishes, and AMY BORDEN, a shoo-in for a 2015 Rookie of the Year nomination.

Elite AGers JEN NEUMAN (45-49W), LINDA SCHEIVELBEIN (50-54W) and (Canadian) BOB SHINE (55-59M) totally rocked on Saturday, enjoying great times and MOVs.

One hundred and seventy-eight athletes finished the event. RESULTS
