US Duathlete of the Year?...

jennyUSA Triathlon's 2010 Athetes of the Year will be announced soon. Will any Minnesota multisporters be honored, as they have so often in the past?

Maybe. But we'll just have to wait until the official announcement is made.

We're sure you recall that Kevin O'Connor was named "2009 US Duathlete of the Year." There is a slight possibility that another Minnesotan will win the 2010 title.

Who?

Minnesota's 2010 Duathlete of the Year Jenny Wilcox, of course....

It should be known that Jenny's name was not submitted for consideration until last week, which was well after the conference call that was designed to determine award winners and HMs. Because USAT's Selection Committee has a "soft rule" stating, in effect, that winners must have excelled at Nationals and/or Worlds, Wilcox's name was not listed among the potential nominees. When USAT's Tim Yount learned of Jenny's du resume--five wins in six starts and the fact two of the races (Iron Girl & Minneapolis Du) were among the largest of the year--he immediately forwarded the info to the Chairman of the Selection Committee.

Here at MTN our fingers are crossed. Good luck, Jenny. We believe that you richly deserve this accolade.
