Back in the Saddle...

CYED. - We were able to cyber-chat with Minnesota Athlete of the Decade, Cathy Yndestad, a few days ago. After an arduous recovery phase (broken collar bone), she's finally able to race again. She couldn't be happier, and neither can we. We can't wait to see her race at Life Time-Minneapolis on Saturday. It will be her 10th straight appearance there. She's won that iconic race an unprecedented FIVE times. Whoa!

opportunity to test my recovery even though it would be my longest (post surgery) swim! I knew the low key, fun focused vibe would be the perfect place to race and support a good cause at the same time. cy splash

I was initially worried about how my shoulder would feel in my wetsuit, but it turned out to be a non issue. In fact, the added buoyancy from the suit made it much easier on my shoulder.

Standing on the start line was a little different: I typically line up in the middle of the pack and start rather aggressively. This time however, out of fear of getting hit by fellow swimmers, I was on the far edge of the pack. I waited a few seconds after the horn sounded, let the crowd take off and then finally let the fun begin. About half way through the swim, I started to feel comfortable and I
