Stuff About Upcoming Races...
September 07, 2011
Quasi Previews - There are only a few races remaining on the Minnesota tri/du calendar, all of which, we reckon, are still accepting registrations. Coming up this weekend are the SQUARE LAKE races (12th annual Short Course, 11th annual Long Course) and our region's zaniest event, the BURRITO UNION 5 & 10 HOUR TRIS, featuring individual and various team racing options. The MTN Guys wholeheartedly recommend these events event though Randy doesn't advertise on our site (he's got his own branding and marketing vehicle) and he hires his nephew to announce (and he's totally good, gashdarnit!). And we recommend Burrito Union because we LOVE the event AND they advertise. And because race founder Rod Raymond is a HOOT! FYI, this year's bike course will be shortened from 14 miles to 10.4....

We also enthusiastically recommend ONE LAST TRI on Sunday, the 18th. It is not actually the final tri of the season that is staged on Minnesota real estate, but if it is the final one that YOU do, then it is appropriately named. And yes, they advertise on MTN and they give away lots of really cool stuff, some of which is kinda strange (kickstand polish, handlebar grip streamers, fender decals etc.). Great courses. OLT CRs - Sam Janicki - 1:03:57 - 2010 & Claire Bootsma - 1:11:19 - 2010
Hey, what are you doing on the 24th? Nothing? Good! Head on down to Pine Island for the 5th annual TREADMAN DUATHLON, which is produced by Final Stretch. This is a diamond-in-the-rough event. If doing it means extending your season, then extend your season. You'll be glad you did. FS will take great care of you. Great courses (R - 3.3 - B - 21.6 - R - 3.3). Great atmosphere. Great post-race chow. TD-WEBSITE
T-MAN CRs - Kevin O'Connor - 1:30:00 - 2010 & Julie Hull - 1:44:57 - 2009
And we also highly recommend that you drive down to Waterloo, Iowa on Sunday, September 25 for the 4th annual PEREGRINE CHARITIES TRIATHLON (Olympic & Sprint). Yes, this race advertises on MTN, which is not the only reason we love it. Amber is a tremendous race director and every Minnesotan who has done this race has come home smiling. PC-WEBSITE

ED. I'd forgotten about the fog deal in '09. Thanks for the clarifications. And I hope you have a great experience on Saturday.
