Tri U Mah Stuff...

The ninth annual Tri U Mah Indoor Triathlon happened at The U last weekend. The largest such event in Minnesota, this year's 90-minute challenge (30-S, 30-B, 30-R) had almost 200 total enrollees, of which approximately 150 participated and finished.

The fastest dude for the fourth consecutive year was French Guy, Julien Sein. Sein, who is very, very smart (Ph.d in medical stuff, we think?), has a cool accent and beard and, unlike the silly cultural stereotype, doesn't smoke, hate Americans or bathe infrequently. He now owns the three best male performances ever at Tri U Mah. Last Sunday, he covered 18.483 total miles. He covered 19.049 in 2012 and 18.753 in 2010. Only one other guy has won this event on multiple occasions, that being Devon Palmer (2008, 2007)....

Second and third in this year's men's competition were earned by Brad Sipley (16.823 miles) and Carl Mueller (16:368 miles). Brad is handsome and is a graduate of Western Michigan University, the "Harvard of the Midwest," * and is head-over-heels in love with a girl named Liz. In the photo (L) Liz appears to be taller than Brad, but she's really not. She's standing on her tippy toes, which is cheating. Carl grew up in New Jersey before attending Carleton College. On his Facebook page he claims to be a Nihilistic Taoist and Despotic Environmentalist. Politically, he is a Tea Party Communist.

The fastest woman at Tri U Mah last weekend was 2012 Minnewaska Tri winner, Megan Erlandson, whose mileage (14.792) was the 2nd best women's total here ever. The record holder is
