American Gwen Jorgensen (St. Paul, MN) claimed the win at Saturday’s ITU World Triathlon Series Yokohama race (her fourth straight at this event), with Ashleigh Gentle (AUS) and Ai Ueda (JPN) earning the other two podium spots. With no other Americans finishing on the podium, Katie Zaferes will likely earn the final spot on the women’s U.S. Olympic triathlon team thanks to her ranking in the USA Triathlon Objective Rankings System—Gwen Jorgensen and Sarah True earned the first two spots at last year’s Rio Test Event....

- NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

MTN congratulates Patrick Parish and Jeanne Fleck on being crowned Long Distance Duathlon National Champions on Saturday at the Cary Classic in Cary, North Carolina. Patrick was the overall and Elite category winner, a feat he also accomplished on this site in 2014. According to our records, PP has at least 33 career multisport victories. Fleck, who won the women's 50-54 AG, was Minnesota's Rookie of the Year in 2007 and won the Master of the Year and Most Improved awards in 2008. Shortly thereafter a back injury dashed her multisport racing career, though she became a successful bike racer. It's great to have her back! FYI, Fleck placed 2nd overall at Cinco Du Mayo Sprint on May 7.

- TRI VAGABONDAGE

Next Sunday, sophomore pro Heather Lendway will race at Barcelona 70.3. In her young career, HL has raced in Canada, Panama, Brazil and Detroit, which is kinda like a different country these days. When she makes her European racing debut next weekend, she will official earn her Tri Vagabond badge. We hope she visits Sagrada Familia (photo above L) when she's in town.
