It Will Be Epic....

Race Preview - BBEs (Best Buds Eternally) Cathy Yndestad and Julie Hull, who between them have more than a hundred dazzling teeth and occasionally take ice baths (photo) together, will kick off their 2012 multi seasons in Henderson, Nevada this weekend at the 2nd annual LEADMAN EPIC 125, which will consist of a 2.5K (1.5 miles) swim, a 109.5 (68 miles) bike and a 13K (8 mile) run. Despite the fact that both girls have been beset by injurious misfortune, Julie especially, in the last 1 1/2 seasons, they are coming into Saturday's race as prohibitive faves.

Why?

Because they are both total Studettes, that's why! Since August of 2007, Jules, who looked totally good in the Vickie's Secret ensem she wore at the Underpants Run in Kona last October, has won 11 races, including two ...

halves. Turning 40 soon, don't be surprised if a healthy Hull garners a national Master of the Year nomination at season's end. She's soooooooo capable.

And then there's Minnesota's Athlete of the Decade (2001-2010), CY, who was the 2009 US Athlete of the Year, two-time 30-34 national champion and winner of 51 races, including the Pigman Half in 2008. logo

Who will these girls be facing this weekend? Anyone with formidable creds?

Three names jumped off the participants list like a Calaveras County frog on Red Bull: former pro Laura Tingle of Louisville (pronounced "Lewis-ville"), Colorado, Chrissy Parks of Tuscon, Arizona, and Kara Nielsen of Walla Walla, Washington. Tingle, who loves Mexican beer (cerveza) and The Rolling Stones and grew up in Nebraska, was a podium finisher in a past edition of the US Half Championships. She's kept a relatively low profile over the last
