New Bri Tri Preview - We don't expect records to fall at the 6th annual New Bri Tri on Saturday, but we do predict that it will be a super event, weather permitting.

Why?

Because it was a super event last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. Also, a glance at the start list suggests that the race will reach its 500-participant ceiling and a significant percent of the field are recidivists. Folks don't return to an event year after year if it sucks....

Next, this year's women's field is deeper than ever. This kind of thing excites us here at MTN. It aint gonna be easy to crack the Top 10. No way! We think that 2008 Rookie of the Year nominee, Lydia Novotny, who is a totally sweet girl with a bejeweled bellybutton and awesome legs (see photos), will win and record the second fastest women's time ever on this course. A 1:12 or 1:13. A W for Ms. Novotny would be the sixth of her young career.bb

Why not a record for Lydia, you ask?

'Cuz Jenny Wilcox, who is injured and thus won't be on hand to defend her title on Saturday, set a rather stratospheric standard (1:11:02) last year, one that lowered the previous mark by more than four minutes. Her mark
