Dancing For Dollars..

polska(Photo - Polska dancing looks fun, doesn't it? Gotta love the outfits.)

Chisago Sprint VII Preview - Many traditional Swedish dances belong to the Polska family. Who knew, huh? We obtained this information from the Internets, as G.W. once referred to The Web, thus it must be true.

Now, we don't know if a Family named "Polska," e.g. Fred and Ethel Polska from Uppsala, invented these dances, or if these dances are related to the Polish kind that happen at drunken weddings that last three days.

In either case, Gloria West, founder/director of the Chisago Lakes Triathlons, has decided to have a Polka, or Polska, contest for this year's sprint course participants. There's prize money for the best dancers, though how ...

Saturday Event Preves - Today we discuss two of the four Minnesota triathlons that will take place on Saturday. CHASKA RIVER CITY and TRI FOR A CAUSE.

Let's do this.

- CHASKA - Celebrating its 9th birthday on the 21st, the Chaska Tri is a well-produced and consistently satisfying event with a 300ish enrollment ceiling. The distances are .3 - 16

G-Man Stats: A Nerd's Eye View...

logoGraniteman - Clearwater Preview - July 14-15 will be the busiest weekend of Minnesota's tri season. Approximately 3500 Minnesota triathletes will race on Saturday, a day that features three popular and well-established events: Life Time - Minneapolis, Timberman and Graniteman - Clearwater. The combined ages of these annual classics is 48 years. Another 1500 will race on Sunday (Heart of the Lakes and TriTonka).

Today we discuss the G-Man Series' flagship race: the 9th annual Graniteman, an event that spent six seasons at its original venue in Rockville near St. Cloud. In 2010 it was moved to a superior venue in Clearwater, located midway between St. Cloud and the Twin Cities....

Timberman Preview - Heidi. Suzie. Ann. If there was such a thing as the fabled "Three Musketeerettes," these girls would be it, er, them (?).

We're talkin' 'bout Heidi Keller-Miler, Suzie Fox and Ann Snuggerud, a trio of very, very fast triathletic Chaskans who do that "all-for-one-and-one-for-all" thing; girls who are known throughout the land for their speed and comeliness. If they were the candy bar,...

A Burrito of Small Town Charm....

holtRace Preview - Historically, Heart of the Lakes Triathlon has attracted an (amateur) field that was as deep, often deeper, than those lured by the larger and more nationally renown Life Time-Minneapolis Triathlon.

That will not be the case this year. The races are on the same weekend--next weekend--and LT-Mpls will clearly have the more talented of the two fields. Minnesota's premier triathletes --Hedge, PP, Payne, CY, Boots, Ruth, all of whom are worthy of USAT AOY consideration--will be at Lake Nokomis, not Annandale. (PS - Kortney Haag, Steph Solfelt and David Holden will also be at Life Time.)

This, however, will not diminish HOLT.
