After brilliant performances at 70.3s in Boise and Madison, and some misfortune that not only kept her off the Top Step at Maple Grove Olympic, but out of the results completely, PAIGE SCHULZ needed one more great effort this year to be considered for a plethora of post-season honors, and boy, did she deliver yesterday at Ironman Chattanooga, where she cracked the women's overall Top 10, including pros, and finished 2nd in the amateur race. Her time was a super impressive 9:43:35, which we believe is a record for amateur women from MInnesota.
It was a 25:41 improvement on her prior best, a 10:09:16 at Ironman Mont Tremblant in 2019, where she placed 3rd among amateur women.
Heading into the run, Paige was leading. She was in the process of throwing down a terrific 3:24, but that would turn out to be the...
amateur women's second fastest run of the day. Colorado's Kelsey Barnholt, a running coach, popped a 3:10:48 (!), a time beaten only by rising Austrian pro Anna Pabinger (2:59:18), who won the race.

MTN and Bonnie and Clyde (2025 MMH Selectors) congratulate COREY NYGAARD (photo R) on his victory at the Classic City Triathlon in Athens, Georgia. He had only raced twice prior to this performance, winning at Hoot Lake and placing a very close 2nd (to David Thompson!) at Buffalo Sprint. He is now eligible for MMH recognition. A spot on Team MInnesota is certainly going to be considered.
Doubtlessly clad in his distinctive plaid bike pants, pedagogue /photographer / endurance athlete STEVE STENZEL convincing claimed the men's title at Sunday's FALL CLASSIC DUATHLON, a race he also won in 2023. Steve kicked off his season with a win at the SPRING CLASSIC DU on the similar, if not identical, Lake Elmo Park Reserve course.
Finishing 3rd and 4th overall, gender notwithstanding, in the standard du (there is also a reverse du) were KATELYN COLE and COURTNEY SELLBERG, neither of whom have extensive multisport resumes (Cole raced at Hopkins Royal Tri in 2023.), which we think is sooooooo cool. Judi's MM Races take great pride in their larger than usual percentage of newbies and semi-newbies. Both Cole and Sellberg had impressive run splits.
A total of 45 athletes finished Sunday's duathlons. RESULTS
