With SQUARE LAKE 70.3 and IRONMAN 70.3 MADISON and IRONMAN MADISON happening this weekend, it's a good time to look at the 2025 long distance results of Minnesota's most successful amateur triathletes, many of whom are racing at the aforementioned events. ....
It's possible that not everyone we are highlighting here will be racing this weekend, but for the sake of name-dropping, let's assume that they are.
MEN:
DAVID CARNEY, 52 - His divisional wins at Des Moines and Chisago suggest that an AG podium may be in the cards this weekend.
THAD INGERSOLL, 55 - After his 7th place overall gold medal performance at Chisago, he's our pick to win his AG at whatever race he does this weekend.
ANTHONY JAGIELO, 31 - Solid performances at Door County (12th) and Chisago (3rd) suggest a Top 10-15 overall 70.3 placing.
NATHAN KIM, 23 - His 4:06 (3rd place) finish at Des Moines, and 4th at Muskoka make us confident that he'll podium on Saturday.

DAVID KOPPEL, 40 - He's comeback trajectory has been impressive enough--a Top 10 at Des Moines and a 13th at Rockford--for us to predict an AG podium for DK.
TEVIN NEEGAARD, 25 - Top 5s at Gulf Coast and Rockford point to his making the Top 10 on Saturday.
JOHNNY, 19, and WILL NEMETH, 18 - These teens rocked hard at Des Moines, especially Will (7th place / 1st AG - 4:16:38).
SPENCER SYVERTSON, 29 - Spencer is making his 70.3 debut at Madison, and with six wins and a 2nd in seven starts this season, we are predicting a big performance from him. Top 10? Yes!
WOMEN:
SHANNON BRAUN, 42 - A Top 5 at Chisago in July and her breakout sprint performance at Hopkins tell us that she will be battling for the win at Square Lake.
CAMI ECKHOFF, 39 - With her win at Chisago and 2nd at Des Moines, we are confident that Cami will finish no lower than Top 5.
JAN GUENTHER, 66 - With two 70.3 AG wins this season, plus an AG record at Madison Half IM (and three at IMOO!), we see another divisional win for Jan this weekend.
ELENA JASPER, 29 - A 5th at Madison 70.3 last year, coupled with her 4th at Des Moines this season, portends another Top 5 for Elena.
BRIE MCSHERRY, 41 - Brie's PR is 5:00:40. Her results over the last three seasons suggest that she is poised to crack the 5-hour mark on Saturday.
PAIGE SCHULZ, 35 - Paige won Madison 70.3 in 2022, and was 2nd there in 2024. With her 4:35-PR (2nd place) at Boise this season fueled by some bad luck at Maple Grove, we think Ms. Schulz has a legit chance to win. A podium for sure.
JULIA WEISBECKER, 59 - Two major 70.3 wins and a brilliant effort at Maple Grove Olympic tell us that this national-class talent should collect another AG win on Saturday.
