Triathlete of the Year: Men...

Minnesota Multisport Awards - Here are the official nominees for 2014 Male Triathlete of the Year:

SEAN COOLEY, 28, Grand Forks, ND - Sean's resume is highlighted by three wins. Additionally, he established himself as one of our region's best 70.3 racers.

BROOKS GROSSINGER, 37, Mayer - Brooks won four of the seven multis he did in 2014, setting course records in two of them. He excelled in dus as well as tris....

MATTHEW PAYNE, 36, Columbia Heights - With 10 victories in 2014, Matt was the winningest Minnesota male triathlete. Three of those wins were in long distance races, three were in duathlons, including the USAT National Championship. Two of his winning performances are nominated for Performance of the Year.

MARCUS STROMBERG, 37, Buffalo - Six podiums in seven starts in 2014, including one win (Chain of Lakes) and a 2nd in his long course debut at Superior Man. His 3rds at Best of the US and Minneapolis Elite were especially impressive.

Also receiving serious consideration were KRIS SPOTH (White Bear Lake - photo L) and JOSH BLANKENHEIM (34, Duluth).

Junior of the Year (Coed) - Mitchell Clayton, Paige Danielson, Christopher Lam, Lauren Steinke

Grand Master of the Year (Coed) - Neil King, Bill Schmitt, Pam Stevens, Greg Taylor

Most Improved - Women - Gaby Bunten, Dani Fischer, Christina Roberts, Cheryl Zitur

Most Improved - Men - Chap Achen, Ryan Bailey, Josh Blankenheim, Nate Hoffman
