11 Days Until the Kidarod, Minnesota's First Winter Adventure Race for Kids!
You might know Tony Schiller as of Minnesota's most accomplished triathletes, but what he's most proud of is having introduced 12,500 kids to racing triathlons. This year, Tony and his lean and mean team at CycleHealth are cooking up three great adventure races for kids in Minnesota.
It all kicks off with a winter adventure race on Sat. Feb. 28 at Fish Lake Park in Maple Grove, called the Kidarod. This brand new race is inspired by the famed sled dog race in Alaska. Kids ages 7-17 can choose from a 1-mile or 2-mile foot race with obstacles along the way. After racing they'll even get a chance to ride with husky sled teams. The Kidarod benefits Second Harvest Heartland; kids are encouraged to collect food and bring it to the race. There's still time to register at LINK.
This summer brings double the adventure for kids.
CycleHealth's first BreakAway Kids Tri at Lake Elmo Park Reserve last August exceeded all expectations with 446 kids participating and raising $62,800 for Children's Hospital. "We were blown away with the response from kids, parents and sponsors to our first offering," said Schiller. "Kids had a blast with a big chunk of the bike course going off-road, and they loved all the obstacles including a slip-n-slide after the swim."...
For 2015 there's two chances to experience the BreakAway Kids Tri.
CycleHealth has just announced the addition of BreakAway Kids Tri WEST on Sat. Aug. 15 at Lake Rebecca Park Reserve, just minutes west of Plymouth. This Three Rivers Park District site has an ideal swimming area, plenty of trails, and enough parking for this race to handle the large fields Tony's races have attracted for years.
BreakAway Kids Tri EAST is Sat. Aug. 22 at Lake Elmo Park Reserve near Woodbury. With the country's largest man-made chlorinated swimming lake, kids love the site! And parents raved because of the amazing site lines for watching the race. 
Registration for both BreakAway Kids Tri EAST and BreakAway Kids Tri WEST opens in March!
- Races Benefit TWO Important Charity Projects!
Each CycleHealth event benefits a specific charity, chosen by their Kid Advisory Panel (KAP). For the 2015 triathlons, the KAP team voted unanimously on these two fundraising projects:
1. Save the Camp!
When the KAP team learned that a beloved camp for children with
cancer and their siblings had suddenly lost its funding, they
quickly rallied around it. Click HERE

Fund that will offer kid fundraisers a jumpstart to their personal
fundraising campaigns.
2. Finish the Pain Clinic's Needs
100% of the $62,800 kids raised in 2014 was presented to Children's
Hospital in Minneapolis and used for to pay for extraordinary items
in their just opened Pediatric Pain, Palliative and Integrative
Medicine Clinic. The 2015 campaign will also help fund a few final
items needed so the clinic can fully serve all kids facing chronic
or life-limiting pain. Click HERE
