ner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2014, KELLY TROM (photo L) has developed into one of our region's top long distance triathletes, owning six 70.3 podium finishes, including a win at Chisago in 2015. She is also one of the coolest people we know!

Thanks for messaging and getting the juices flowing. Excited that you’re excited about the 2021 season... SO, prompted by your email, Karl and I went digging into the 2021 current proposed season’s lineup. 1- do you know anything about superior man coming back‽! That’d be a great half we’d love to do but didn’t see it yet on the calendar. (ED. We have reached out to race organizers but haven't received a reply as yet.)
And 2- Agenda otherwise, Karl (my fiancé!!) and I are doing Chattanooga IM together (his first, my 5th) which means there’s plenty of races of interest in prep for that late Sept event. He showed up at the Chisago half with me in 2019, a week out, and impressively...well annoyingly did very well in the Half IM so I’m sure his season will be fun. But...

That's right. Due to inhumane weather, the event has been rescheduled for February 20, when the temps are forecast to be in the relatively balmy 25-31-degree range. You can still think of the event as "Pre-Game" because the Timberwolves play the Knicks that evening.

With his win at Green Lake Sprint and podium finishes at Big Lake and Young Life, Fargo's AJ MANNING (photo L) was the slam-dunk recipient of the Most Improved honor last season. We're glad to hear that he plans to race on the Minnesota side of the Red River in 2021:

I'm currently my plans are to race Des Moines 70.3, Age Group Nationals in Milwaukee and Madison WI 70.3. I will then add in 2-3 local Minnesota races as well just not decided on which ones quite yet. - AJ

Every Sunday afternoon I sit down in my home office prepping for next week’s clients directly in front of one of my favorite quotes:
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
While George Bernard Shaw has many famous expressions, the words “grow old” in this particular quote could be replaced by any number of phrases directly relevant to a triathlete.
We lose motivation when sessions get long or boring. We aggravate old niggles when our training is out of balance. We plateau with lack of variability. I have found few in this sport who aren’t striving to remain youthful, vibrant, and competitive as they age. So if you’re one of these athletes, now’s your time...
