ED. - We received this letter from Kevin Derung a few days ago. It's pretty cool. FYI, Kevin is not the guy in the "Before & After" photo on the next page. We posted that shot because we thought it was cool. The "After Kevin" is the guy finishing Chisago Half (L) and standing in the ocean off the coast of Porta Vyarta (fonetic spelling), Mexico (below).

I love how the extreme pain in your lungs instantly disappears the minute you hand your chip in and how the plans for the next race reinvigorate your desire to get back to the grind of early morning training. There are not a lot of sports where you know you will never win yet you come back happier than last time. Many of us would love to race every weekend if we could afford the time commitment, but interestingly enough other things happen on Saturday and Sunday mornings outside of races? Our families love us aside the misunderstanding that we all love torture, and...

A colleague of mine asked me why I am participating in the MS150 ride to help fight against Multiple Sclerosis instead of cleaning up trash or building houses as part of a charity fundraiser. I gave him two reasons :
1) I would get stuck in wet cement or fall off the roof.
2) I believe in using what you enjoy to help others.
The MS150 is a way for athletes to get involved doing what they do best: Sitting on their butts for hours, better know as riding a bike....
