Cruser Crushes at Cinco....

CarrieHinners3rd.pngCINCO DU MAYO - WADE CRUSER kicked off his 2017 multisport season with a race record victory at Cinco Long Course. His 1:20:48 over the hilly 3-20-3 route lowered SAM JANICKI's 2011 CR by an impressive 1:02.

For Cruser, winner of the Most Improved award in 2016, the W was the 7th of his career. He was pushed on Saturday by 2013 and 2015 Cinco champ BRIAN SAMES, who after spending 2016 in the Chicago area, appears to have returned to Minnesota. We hope the three-time Team Minnesota member is back to stay.

ANDY ZABEL, CHRIS TATTON and JUSTIN CUMMINS rounded out the formidable men's Top 5.

Due to some scoring questions, we are unable to comment on the women's long course race.

In the short course race, STEVE STENZEL not only picked up his third win here, he did so in his fastest time yet. He covered the 2-10-2...

jenn_wine.pngUSAT LONG COURSE DUATHLON NATIONALS - MTN congratulates former US Duathlete of the Year JENN SCUDIERO, of Eagan, who likes to party (photo), on her awesome performance last weekend at Long Distance Du Nationals in hot, super humid, windy Cary, North Carolina. She placed 6th against a stellar field. Check out the Top 6:

- 2. KIRSTEN SASS (McKenzie, TN) - Two-time US Doy, three-time US TOY. Reigning World Du Champion.

- 3. DANI FISCHER (Indianapolis, IN) - 2014 US Duathlete of the Year who has the best dimples ever.

Falls Du Kicked Off 2017 Multi Season...

FALLS DUATHLON - The MTN Guys were not at Falls Du this year. Bummer. We really love that race. So, tasked with posting some coverage, we went to Steve Stenzel's great blog site (lINK) to learn about the conditions, weather-wise, and to get a feel for the event. He didn't give us much in the way of climatology, but mentioned that it was breezy, though not hurricanic, as it has been in year's past. Studying all the great photos he posted, we'd guess that it wasn't a warm day, 30s-40s probably, and the clouds were as thick as cold oatmeal making for grey racing conditions...

We stated in our preview that we expected some late sign-ups to have an impact on the overall race. That was certainly the case on the men's side. 2016 Most Improved nominee Jordan Roby (photo below) was one those guys and he totally...

"The Coolest Part...is the Atmosphere"...

kristina_jump.pngED. This is one of the finest race reports you'll ever read! Enjoy.

By Kristina Swenson (kristinaswenson.wixite.com)

Collegiate Nationals Race Report - I’ve experienced a lot of triathlon in my short racing career, from small local races to draft-legal junior elite races to the ITU World Championship, but nothing quite compares to USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championship. This past weekend, I competed in my second Collegiate Nationals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Nearly 1,300 athletes and 120 club teams came from all over the country to compete against the best of the best in collegiate triathlon. This is a two-day event that consists of a draft-legal sprint distance race, a non-draft Olympic distance race, and a super sprint mixed team relay race.

The coolest part about this race is the atmosphere. This is the race that every college triathlete around the country trains for each year. This is our opportunity to show the world what happens between our classes and late night study sessions at the library. This is where those 30-hour training weeks and every party you missed because you...

Race Day: Friday, April 7, 2017

Zumbro Midnight 50 Mile Race Report - Never in my life have I had such a perfect training block leading up to a race. I guess that is a bold statement to make, but I feel like there is always some sort of question or apprehension, some little nagging injury or training fall-out that makes you question the pending performance. This year, this race, and with race week taper in full force, I was so content with every single mile I had put in and the output of fitness it produced. I was running faster and stronger than ever....
